About Us

The aims of this organisation are to encourage people to talk about issues that affect them, and to promote social cohesion. It doesn't matter which religion you follow, or what background you come from, because there is one thing that links us all to each other: we are all human beings.

Our aim is to break down barriers between people and create a wider sense of community spirit. In our Facebook group we have built a strong online community, and have discussed in detail many issues that affect us all in some way. We have discovered that, through these discussions, we are able to learn a considerable amount from each other, and also break down a lot of common misconceptions that have been built up in the media and through other platforms.

With this website we want to build on our small foundations, and hope to unite people across our country against extremism, in all its forms.

United Shades of Britain originally started as a Facebook group in January 2010. To find out more about our origins on Facebook please click on this link

During the last year we have grown a tremendous amount and fostered a true community spirit. We thought that it was only right to create a website where we could get our message out to the wider world, and you are reading the efforts of our members - many of whom helped put this website together.

The United Shades of Britain is non-sectarian, non-partisan and politically neutral. We do not support any particular faith but appreciate the diversity and beauty of all. Our members are Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic and everything in between.

With this new website the United Shades of Britain aim to continue with the reputation of neutrality. The only things we are opposed to are bigotry, intolerance and extremism in all its shapes and forms.

The facebook group and this website is maintained by the admin team, a small group of people who originally started out as members, to read more about them there is a profle page here
